◆What is necessary for application for admission

Documents which the applicant needs to submit

1. Application form
DOWNLOAD
Fill out in Japanese or English.
Attach Japanese translation in case a language other than Japanese or English is used.
Leave no blanks in the educational background and profession history in the application form.
In case that the actual dates and the dates in the certificate(s) are different and/or your school history is different from usual, document(s) for explanation or certificate(s) will be required.
The application form is to be completed by the applicant.
No correction liquid can be used.
2. Written statement of reasons for application Write in detail the applicant’s purpose of studying Japanese and plans for future.
Write in the applicant’s native language and attach Japanese translation.
This statement is to be completed by the applicant.
3. Certificate or record of the applicant's Japanese ability One of the following is necessary:
1) Certificate showing that the applicant has passed the fourth level of Japanese Language Ability Tests or higher.
2) Certificate (form designated by this school) of studying Japanese or a form made by the school where the applicant has studied Japanese.
In the latter case, the total hours and the level of the applicant’s studying needs to be specified and its Japanese translation is necessary.
Studying more than 150 hours is required for every student.
4. Copy of passport Copies of the entire pages are necessary.
5. Photograph of applicant 6 copies of the photograph, 4 cm by 3 cm, front, bare head, taken in the last six months.
Signature, date of birth, and nationality on the back of each.
Stick one of the six copies on the application form.
6. Certificate of being in school
Certificate of being employed
In case the applicant is now in school, the certificate of being in school is required.
In case the applicant is now employed, the certificate of being employed is required.
In case the applicant is out of work now, the certificate from the last employer is required.
Each certificate is to include the name, address and telephone number of the company, the period of being employed, and what the applicant is/was in charge of.
Japanese translation is to be included with each certificate.
7. Certificate of graduation Submit the certificate of graduation of high school.
In case the applicant has graduated from another school, college or university, its certificate of graduation is needed as well.
Japanese translation is to be included with each certificate.
8. Record of performance Record(s) of performance in high school and in the school last attended.
Japanese translation is to be included with each certificate.
9. Personal identification Copy of personal identification.
Copy of family/personal registration.
Other In case the applicant came to Japan in the past as a trainee, the certificate including its purpose, period, stipend and the address/telephone number of the company is needed.
In case the applicant plans to come to Japan leaving his/her spouse behind, a statement which explains about his/her life and a letter of agreement written by him/her are needed.
They are to be written by the spouse in his/her native language with Japanese translation attached.

This statement is to be written by the person paying the expenses in his/her native language with Japanese translation attached.
How to make payment is to be specified: to transfer money to the applicant’s bank account or hand over the money to him/her.
2. Record of financial savings Record of financial savings of the person paying the expenses.
The bank needs to be one that can remit money overseas.
The amount needs to be more than 2,000,000 yen for 1.5-year course and 2,500,000 yen for 2-year course.
Document(s) describing how the money was made (copy of the bankbook for more than past 3 years, certificate of selling assets, etc.) is needed.
3. Certificate of employment In case the person paying the expenses is now employed:
Certificate of being employed for the last three years.
Certificate which includes the starting date of employment and his/her post written in a letterhead paper.
In case the person paying the expenses is self-employed:
Document(s) issued by a public organization which proves that he/she is engaged in the business.
Japanese translation is to be included with each certificate or document.
4. Certificate of income In case the person paying the expenses is a company employee:
Certificate of income of each year for the last three years, which is written in a letterhead paper.
In case the person paying the expenses is self-employed:
Record of tax payment which includes the entire amount of income issued by a public organization.
Japanese translation is to be included with each certificate or record.
5. Documents describing the relationship with the applicant In case the person paying the expenses is the applicant’s family member:
Certificate or document issued by a public organization, such as birth certificate, family registration, etc., which includes the name, gender, date of birth, current address and the relationship with the applicant.
Other cases:
Document(s), letter(s), photograph(s) which clearly show the relationship with the applicant.
Japanese translation is to be included with each certificate or document.

In case someone in Japan is paying the expenses for the applicant

Names of documents Details
1. Written statement describing who is paying the expenses This statement is to be written in Japanese by the person paying the expenses.
2. Record of financial savings Use a bank’s original form which includes the bank account.
The amount needs to be more than 2,000,000 yen for 1.5-year course and 2,500,000 yen for 2-year course.
3. Certificate of employment In case the person paying the expenses is a company employee:
Certificate of being employed issued by the company.
In case the person paying the expenses is self-employed:
Final tax return (official copy) stamped by the tax office.
In case the person paying the expenses is a company owner:
Patent roll of the company.
4. Certificate of income Record of tax payment for the last three years issued by the local government which includes the entire amount of income.
Record of resident tax payment for the last three years.
5. Certificate of residence Certificate of residence which includes all the family members.
Certificate of foreign resident registration.
6. Documents describing the relationship with the applicant In case the person paying the expenses is the applicant’s family member:
Certificate or document issued by a public organization, such as birth certificate, family registration, etc., which includes the name, gender, date of birth, current address and the relationship with the applicant. Other cases:
Document(s), letter(s), photograph(s) which clearly show the relationship with the applicant.
Japanese translation is to be included with each certificate or document.
